A buddy of mine came across a red Genesis 1000 the other day and thought of me. At least I think it is a 1000 and hoping others here can confirm. Excited to start refurbishing it. May ask for advice where to find some parts as I go. Seems real complete and solid. Noticed one black frame cap missing on right side. Also wondering how to mount matching wood slats on bottom and if adding a wooden shelf to the right of the control panel is an option?

Yes, that is a Genesis 1000. Looks basically identical to what mine looked like when I got it. Mine is a 1993 model. Look for a sticker on the right side of the control panel or maybe on the underside of the control panel. It should have a serial number on it.


You are probably going to want to replace the wood shelves. You are missing the swing table with it's hardware. That grill didn't come with wood slats on the bottom, as it has the wire rack. You could replace that with wood slats if you like. You will just have to source the wood and Z bars. It might be possible to extend the frame with inserts, but what you are really looking for is the Genesis 2000 similar to this one. It is a little newer than yours and has durawood instead of real wood.
I suggest you take this over to the Gas Grill section as you will get a lot more attention there.
