My first gasser (well, kinda....)

Let me preface this post with the following:

I once owned a gasser, it actually fell off of a truck near 40 years ago. One of the low-life brands. It was free, with little damage from the fall. Used it for a good 5 or 6 years.

Then I found charcoal. Briquets, lump. And live wood fire. Dumped the gasser, and dove into the smoke.

Over the past 30-35 years I've amassed a collection.

Multiple Webers: All sizes of kettles with the exeption of a 26 or a Ranch (still looking), multiples of 18's, 22's, and the smaller tabletops. 3 Stainless Performers. Had 5 WSM bullets at one time, down to just 2 after gifting 3 out. 22" rotisserie, 22" "Gabby's Grill" Santa Maria, 22" MoJo steel slab. Recently picked up a 22" RedHead, circa 1988, never used with many accessories, Craigslist find, $70.

Other units...Cajun Cooker. Satay cookers. Big Green Egg. Kamado Joe Jr. Lodge cast iron tabletop. Big John charcoal catering grill. Others I've forgotten about.

But we're renovating a house to get into for our later years. I plan on putting deck off of the living room and would like a cooking area integrated. Sink, good counter space, lighting. I'm very hesitant to keep a live fire grill on the deck, I've seen local disasters.

Perusing Craigslist for kettles and the like at the beginning of the year I ran across a local guy selling a Weber 3 burner with side burner. Looked interesting from the pics supplied, I responded. Turns out he's a few streets away from me. As it was January there was not much action on his advertisement.

Set up a viewing almost immediately. Swung overt his house. Walked down the driveway, there were a few Weber hoods, other parts on benches and shelves. Walked into the backyard...there had to be 30 Weber gassers under covers, tarps, in the open.

The advertised grill was in the middle of the yard. Listed at $60, with a full tank of propane. I bit quick, and he was kind enough to deliver on the spot to my house a couple of miles away.

I've lived in this neighborhood for over 60 years, he's been there for over 30. Never knew he was was there or collecting and refurbing.

Turns out it's a 2005 Silver C with side burner. Stainless doors, and the bottom of the cabinet is actually quite solid. Side burner need a bit of assistance lighting. Missing the 2 swing grates. Condition overall is quite nice.

Should last me for quite some time, it's going to be used primarily as a warming station. Not going to give up on my live fire quite yet.

Pics attached in no particular order. Call me lazy.

Forgot to mention...3 weeks later a house down the street is up for sale. Dumpster out front with a crappy gasser on the side. But it had a full tank of propane.

I left the grill there.
