Has anyone tried Mr. Brown on a picnic instead of a butt? I am cooking 4 picnics (they were .58 per lb) next Friday night for a large Saturday gathering at noon. Does Mr Brown turn out well on that cut of meat? Should I alter it in any way for a more bland taste since its a large group of people? I've haven't done Mr. Brown yet, so any input would be appreciated!

When would you all start cooking? Im thinking of trying to get them on around 9 PM on Friday, refilling the water pan before bed at 11 (giving I have the temps stable by then, if not my ET-73 will wake me up.)

I would think Mr. Brown going on a picnic, lol, would be fine. In the book "Smoke and Spice" they have a different recipe for the picnic, due to a bit more hammy taste.

For cooking times, I would allow for 2.5 hrs/lb and 1 hr for prep and 1 hr for rest and pulling the pork.
