Mildew on Wood

Will mildew or mold on wood have any adverse affects? Is it still ok to use it for smoking? Just curious.

Mildew and Mold are part of the rotting process, this is not prime material for smoking wood. It does depend to the extent of the mildew or mold if you will notice on the food. I would pick something without this condition if possible.

There were very little mildew spots under the bark, but its better to be safe than sorry.I didn't know how old the wood was so I'll forget about it.
