Microsoft evolution - VB6 and .NET


 
Thanks Sean. No, it doesn't impact me or Stokerlog. They are discontinuing support of old VB 6 binaries and the development environment for it. As a language, VB is fully supported as evidenced by it being part of Visual Studio 2010.

That said, I plan on rewriting the app in the future and moving on to C#/Silverlight. While I learned programming in basic some 30 years ago, I quickly got onto C programming for the last 20 years of that. So it is ironic that Stokerlog is in VB. Reason for that is that someone write a simple logging app for stoker and I started to modify that, thinking it would be a one day project so no sense in rewriting it. Here I am with a program which has thousands of lines of code 3 years of development time!
