Meat Thermometer - Are there any worth a darn?

I 've had the ET-73 for about a year and had to get new high heat probes. I've modified it for longer range. I don't expect it to last another year. I think the best is Thermoworks TW8060 High Temp Kit http://www.thermoworks.com/products/handheld/TW8060.html#MoreInfoTab

I've owned a Maverick ET-732 since October and my probes have gone bad. Maverick is mailing two new ones but I also ordered a couple sets for back up. If I'd known about the Thermoworks kit I would have bought it to begin with since the total I've spent to date equals the cost of the thermoworks kit. I do own a Thermapen and love it dearly. I cook on a 22" WSM and have reached a point where I can dial the cooking temp in without much effort, but I still like the warm feeling I get knowing I can constantly monitor the smoker temp without standing over it.
