Does running the maverick probes underneath the lid of the wsm create a big gap where air escapes?

I haven't received my 732 yet, but i know the 73 probes would not make a big enough gap to worry too much about.

Come to think of it. I'm probably only going to be using one probe anyway. Just to measure chamber temperature. So I can probably drop the probe in through the vent. I can't wait to get it, it's going to make overnight cooks that much more relaxing!

I run mine down through the vent of the WSM.

I run mine through the top vent as well - that seems to work fine.

Thanks guys. I'll try both ways, if all else fails through the top vent it is.

I run the meat probe under the lid and I put the smoker probe in the top vent. I've never had an issue.

Both probes under the lid for me. But you can take 1 bolt of the top grate holder and run em thru there if you dont wanna mess with eyelets/grommets.

Under the lid,And you dont have to move em at all if you are checking/basting the food.

Maby a bit wear and tear,But i still need the new 732 so if my old 73 stops working i have an excuse to get the "new" one
