I purchased the BBQ Guru eyelets without reading the fine print!

I ended up with the lamp rod mod. Worked out great.

Where did you purchase yours and what size is it? I would like to do this to mine. What else did you purchase to make this work? Thanks.

I purchased these at Lowe's as suggested by another post

I used a 3/8 drill bit to increase the hole in the WSM and the bracket. A little nerve racking, but successful.

The smallest lamp rod fit snug and the probes fit through with no issues.
 
I did the exact same thing as Bill S.75...enlarging the existing holes in the wall and the strap for the lamp rod.
Works great. One day I may cut a notch.
 
I did this modification on an old Cabela's smoker last year and will be performing the same mod on my new 22.5 which is coming today. You can get all the items at your local Home Depot.

Nipples come pre cut...use the two small nipples.

I have the Maverick 732 and the probes slide right through the eyelets with no problem.
 
I did notice a little smoke escaping from the hole with 2 probe wires in it. I just crumpled up some tinfoil around the hole. I don't think temp control was affected either way.
 
Matt U, why do you say use the two small nipples. Do you actually put two of the grommet mod's on your smoker? Do you need two of them for the 732 or will both probes fit through one lamp rod nipple? I'm going to modify my 18.5" tomorrow and just wanted to know if I need to put two in or if one will suffice for both probes. Thanks.

Sorry but I just saw your question. I made one insert point for the upper grate and one for the lower grate. As the others posted I insert both probes through the same hole.

Sorry but I just saw your question. I made one insert point for the upper grate and one for the lower grate. As the others posted I insert both probes through the same hole.
