Lower vent covers ???

Just curious when the lower vent covers are closed is it "normal" to see just a little light. in other words they don't "Completely" close off the lower vents. I would say 96 maybe 98 percent closed off. Probably if I were to bend the little tabs that stop the vent covers from over rotating it would completely close it off. Hate to be splitting hairs but just would like to know. Trying to fine tune my new to me WSM before my first cook tomorrow. Any info appreciated. Thanks john

I wouldn't worry about it. The only reason to close them all shut is to put out the coals. Most of the time you only shut 25% to 50%.

I do a lot of low heat 250ish, no water in the double foiled water pan cooks, and was just a little worried about being able to keep the temps down. john
