lower grill?

i realize that the top grill on the wsm is about 15 degrees lower than the thermometer i have stuck thru the top vent. my question is, how much lower is the lower grill than the top one?

any help is greatly appreciated - as i'd like to really load up the cooker this weekend.

It'll be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-10 degrees lower. Check out this article that Chris did on temps in the WSM.

I noticed that at the 230F top grill temp yeilds thermo through the hole around 15, as per TVWB. However, as the temps get higer, so does the spread. At 260 grill temp (top) my hole themo was a good 15 - 25* higher. Can't tell ya about the lower grill, as my new Mav 73 was only on top.
