I picked up a slide aside this weekend and I installed it on my 26.75. Even though it's designed for a 18 or 22, it fits and seems to work perfectly. I love my 26 and the only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the hook on the lid. This solved my issues. Very happy!

I was thinking about getting weber to sell me a lid bail and rollers for my 26. mine's super old though so i'm reluctant to drill into it.

does the slide aside just hang on the lip?

Do you think the new lid bale will fit on the older style? I was worried the shape was different enough that the bale wouldn't work. Do you know if anyone has successfully put the new bale on the old 26?

My old 26 has the different shape. It kind of looks like a giant 18.5 The lid is pretty different from the new ones.

yep, i remember seeing the ad.

i think MOST of the old ones are the flatter top styles, with only the earliest 2 or 3 years being the 'regular'

I honestly believe a lid bale from a new 26.75 will fit on either the super old ones or the flat tops. The kit is around $16 and probably worth trying. The only thing I don't like about the slide asides is I need to remove it to put the fire out. I also notice when cooking that it adds another ten degrees to the cook, which is only a problem if I am smoking on it. I do like the slide asides though and am using one right now on an old gray 22.

The Slide-Aside works great on the 18.5 WSM too.
