wish there was something for my old (2012) Motorola Xoom...... that thing's clunky & slow.... maybe I'll have to root it.

If it's out of warranty. My HTC 1 has 6mo to go. Slower than the 2nd coming internet-wise is why I got the tablet--for internet away from the desktop.
