For us Cookers in the North, do you remove your lid mounted thermometers in between cooks. Now that the temps will be going down into the low 50's and 40's at night ?

I assume it's not good for a thermometers accurcy to be exposed to these lower temps. Any thoughts comments etc. Appreciated.

I leave mine in year round, never had any issues.

Just when I drop the lid and bend the stem on a 90º seems to really affect the accuracy of a thermo though.

Ditto what they said. If its a bi-metal therm, that is calibrated to go that low, it will simply read as such. If its not calibrated to reach that low, then there will be no discernible stress placed on it.

i replaced my therm that i keep in my bbq bin that sits outside all winter. i replaced it because after 6 years of use i couldnt read the numbers anymore easily. it has sat through winter chills reaching -20 and still worked fine.

I leave mine in all year, because if I removed it during the winter months I probably wouldn't remember where I put come spring.
