Kettle Vent Placement

Years(30) ago when I got my first Weber the directions were specific about how to assemble and use the kettle...It stated that you had to assemble the grill a certain way relative to the front leg. When in use, the front leg should be facing into the wind and the lid vent should be aligned with the front leg...

I've always done this in the past but my new 26.75 has the handle going 180 out from the vent and the temp guage is on the opposite side which lends itself on being positioned over the coals. Is there a certain way to position the vent on the 26 or does it matter at all?...Yeah, I know I'm anal...lol...
 
I wonder if that direction might have been more important for the three-wheeler rather than grills with the one-touch system?

i've always put the lower vent towards the wind. the charcoal should be above that and the meat and lid vent should be downwind. course it depends on what yer doing.
