Hi Guys
I am undecided on whether to get the Kettle Pizza. I have seen some awesome pizza pics on this forum, and was about to order the KettlePizza Deluxe USA KPDU-22 - Pizza Oven Kit for 18.5 and 22.5 Inch Kettle Grills that includes the Pizza Stone and Aluminum Peel
However after scanning their website a bit more, I came across the reviews by Serious Eats, and Sweet Phi. Serious Eats apparently wrote like 3 reviews, where they had to make modifications to the Kettle Pizza before they got good pies. The kit is pretty expensive if it doesnt work well out of the box. Eventually Kettle Pizza seems to have released a 400 usd kit after listening to Serious Eats. Thats a lot of money for a grill attachment. Sweet PHi seems to have reviewed this 400 USD kit.
I'm a little concerned that the reviews Kettle Pizza directs their readers to says that the kit doesnt work out of the box. Its a great way to upsell their products i guess, but I am not sure.
Has anyone here used their basic kit with good results? Is it true that the basic kit will cook the bottom of your pie before the top (according to serious eats) since there is too much air on top of the pie and heat escapes?
I am not handy with tools but considered getting a nearby metal shop to fabricate one for me. However, as I am not confident that i can find clean food grade drums to cut and turn into a kettle pizza.
Thanks Carlo
