In my own personal experience, more tightly packed fuel for low and slow (LAS) drives a better final cooking result.

All the fuel touches so ignition is not a problem. Burn is more consistent and temps too as you can choke down on the bottom vent and not have burn outs, unless you actually choke the fire out.

I referred to that link as my post stated exactly what I discovered. That was the reason for the exact link. Just trying to be super efficient on time while on vacation.
Specifically with the setup with the char baskets right side up, you find that's more efficient than filling the bottom without the baskets? I understand why you'd flip one or both over, but I'm not clear on whether it still helps with everything right side up and all filled. I hope I'm doing a better job this time of expressing myself, since I'm pretty damned bad at it!
 

Based on your posts in that thread, it tells me it's solely for quickly moving unused charcoal, but I'd still like to hear if you think baskets right side up with everything filled seems to behave differently than just filling the bottom without the baskets since I think the same amount of charcoal would be used either way.
