k comp complaint

well, i finally noticed something that i can actually complain about. i noticed it before but just now really noticed it again and the dim bulb went off. the ash is so fine and powdery that when cleaning the grill it flies all over. terrible if there is a little breeze. its a mess. so now if/when i use it i will wet it down first.
 
Haven't used K Comp yet but I've used regular K and had the same problem...especially when I try to get the coals going if they're having trouble staying lit/up-to-temp while smoking. Ashes all over the damn place. As cheap as K is, I still go with lump for most of my cooks because it doesn't ash the way charcoal does. I've never gotten ash on my food when using lump.
 
grilled some english ribs and veggies today with the k comp. grill was in the sun. i gotta say that now i'm really not thrilled. when juices dripped on the ashes i could see a small cloud of ash come up. with a little breeze it really swirled around. didn't seem to effect the cook but just not what i want on the food.
really reminds me of rancher.
