I don't like metal to porcelain for the very reason of tightening between the two and causing a crack or chip. I put felt washers between all those connections. Just me.

I use ss hardware. At all these I use ss fender washers inside and out. Most of this damage occurs from rough handling like dropping the grill down on a hard surface and over tightening. So in this case, just put some pam to prevent rust or use high temp paint and then use the washers. They prevent further damage and hide the damage.

I can take one. Might be a day or so. But it is simple, you put the washer against the bowl, then the leg and then the hardware.

Here is a pic for the general idea. You can see that the ss does not rust. This bowl has been sitting covered for at least 3 years. It's a gold that I use for my mini smoker.
