Cooked some more mock tenderloins today over Jack Daniels Charcoal (briquettes and oak barrel chunks). Really nice smoke, oh yeah! I dumped into a chimney, removed the wood chunks, then dumped lit chimney in keg. The briqs, imho, appear to be infused with JD barrel sawdust. Took maybe 10 minutes for keg to hit 500F, added a few of the chunks, waited a couple more minutes for the smoke to mellow then started grilling.
Heavenly flavor and smell. Have to say though cost wise it's cheaper to use my econo fuel and just as good to use the BBQers Delight JD pellets with the econo fuel.
Really have no complaints about the JD Charcoal product other than here it's $14/7lb bag.
If you haven't tried either I recommend you try either the pellets or the JD charcoal.
