I've been a 40+ yr bbqer, currently owning a vintage 1970s 18" red kettle, a 1980s 22" kettle, a 22" SS performer, a Genesis 1000 propane gas, a Weber Q200, and a Summit D6 humongous stainless steel behemoth gas grill (+ a Masterbuilt electric smoker, a camp chef 4 burner stove with griddle and pizza oven, + a Coleman 2 burner propane camp stove) but have never owned a WEBER SMOKEY MOUNTAIN COOKER until today. I purchased a 2011 18.5" bullet sight unseen off craigslist for $100 delivered supposedly used only 5 times. It arrived today dirty but complete. I started cleaning it up and it cleaned up very nicely. The outer porcelain cleaned up as new. The interior cleaned up to almost the same to where I'm going to have to season it up-- not a bad thing at all. It truly appears that this smoker was used a mere 5 times. Tomorrow I'll clean up the rest and season it up. I've got a whole turkey defrosting now waiting for the maiden voyage on my new smoker. I've been a spectator of this website and these forums for years--as of today I'm a registered member and I look forward to that very much.

Welcome Dwight. Congrats on a great deal. Glad you joined us and looking forward to seeing some of your cooks.

Welcome to the forum Dwight. Congrats on a great smoker to add to the stable of classics you already have. Would love to see a pic of the whole stable of cookers together. Sounds like you are going to fit in here perfectly.

Welcome to the forum Dwight, your in the right place. Lots of great cooks and if you have a question, you will get lots of answers. Congrats on the WSM, your going to love it. Looking forward to seeing some cooks, lots of pics please. Again Welcome.

Great to have you aboart, Dwight!

I trust that you will learn how your new WSM will REALLY expand your cooking variety into something quite different from your other grills (although you did state that you had some other smokers)

With just a little practice - you will be surprised at how easy it is to get AWESOME (and I for one do not use that over-used term lightly..) results and how long it can hold good, stabile temperatures.

Get ready to put-on a few pounds, dude!
