I have this cross over tube I made and discussed in other threads which is 1x1 steel, but have any of you used a stainless steel 1x1 for this application process.

I have a question regarding the Genesis 1-5/1000-5000 swing shelf slide bars.

Has anyone ever repainted them and does the non-factory paint cause any problems with them sliding?

I don’t have an answer regarding the paint, but you can always spray Dry Lube onto the bar after you paint it and that would probably help a lot.

Any oil will work on the unrepainted slides. I am just worried the Rustoleum 2x paint might gum things up.

I've been lucky enough to not have to repaint one myself. What I have gotten away with is cleaning that piece with fine steel wool and turtle wax. I apply another coat of wax after that and it looks pretty good. I imagine if you had to repaint one that waxing it after the paint is cured would improve the sliding.
