ISO Genesis 2000 LP Manifold, LP scale/holder and panel (converting NG to LP)

Hey, new member to the forum.

I'm about to buy an older Genesis 2000 - don't know the exact year. It's NG and I'm planning to convert it to LP. Pic attached. Before I spend the money on a new LP manifold to swap out for the old NG one, I figured I'd check here.

I would also be interested in getting a scale/tank holder as well as a panel to complete the conversion. Could trade the old NG manifold as part of this swap, if that's of any interest.

Thanks!

@Joe Imburgio here is a pic of the tank hanger mount that you need. All the genesis 1/2/3 1000/2000/3000 and some early Silver B/C models use the same or similar slide in piece held with one bolt at the bottom.

Another pic showing the one used on a Silver B that has mounting "nubs" vs the wheels on the older style.

You can use a tank hanger from an x000, and if you want to add a sticker for the scale, I recall @Jon Tofte had some.

You can also go with a scale from a Silver B/C gold style. It will work fine, just not "period correct" for a Genny 2000

Both a user here and separately bbqdepot said this is the part I'm looking for - would this not be correct?

Regardless whether it's correct..............That was not the issue at hand. The issue at hand is to affirm you can actually put your hands on one BEFORE purchasing the grill you want to convert. Otherwise you might find yourself scratching your head with a grill you cannot use the way you want to use it

@DanHoo thank you! Very helpful to know what I'm looking for. I'm not particularly precious about being period accurate, just something that works.

@LMichaels great point. I wouldn't be buying it until next week which is why I'm hoping to see about a manifold from this community first before purchasing the part online.

Manifolds (especially LP ones) for those older grills are like many other parts for them. Scarce and getting scarcer. And there are plenty of shysters out there hawking "conversion kits" that won't warn you that the grills will likely not operate correctly (and in some cases even "safely") without valves fully matched to the fuel (unlike so many other companies) which legitimately make true "conversion" kits for their grills i.e. Nexgrill, Charbroil, and many others.
Would hate to see you throw down hard earned cash and then be one of those many who then come on here wondering why their grills don't work correctly even though "I bought a conversion kit from EBay".
So, yeah it's simply precautionary. If you know the grill is 100% yours or committed to you, then if I were you I would get my hands on the parts now (if possible).

@DanHoo Ah but I see I am missing the bracket itself - found an old post of yours where you highlighted the metal piece that's missing. Is there a name for that? Looks like I'd need that as well

Yes as I was doing my initial research on conversions, I saw several of your posts come up warning about the issues with simply buying a conversion kit which helped me figure out I'm better off with a manifold swap. Hopefully I can find one! You're right about it getting scarcer!

I found this withered corpse on ebay - wonder if there are any parts salvageable? At the very least, there's that propane bracket

Liquid Propane Tank Panel , weber part number 90256.

It is discontinued but someone may have an extra lying about from donor parts.

IMO best offer for that would be ten bucks at most

edit: but it has the LPG manifold you need, the panel you need, a hose and a regulator and some other spare parts.

Maybe a couple of bucks more than 10

@DanHoo Thanks for the guidance - put in a low offer so I'll see what he says. With this grill in such poor condition, is the manifold something I can safely salvage? Is it the sort of thing that should function fine as long as I give it a nice clean?

If the valves turn and it is not completely rusted it should be fine.

Looking forward to seeing this cooking. Nice job.

also, my .02 is to hang on to the natural gas manifold and hose. tuck it in a box and if someday you move and have NG, you'll be set.

Good suggestion. Or, you could clean it up and sell it on eBay. You can't buy them new anymore so they are pretty easy to sell. It's part # 56039, you'll need that if you plan on selling it.
