ISO black strap handle

I got really lucky over the weekend and picked up an H code/1986 26” kettle for $20. Not in too bad of a condition, but needs a few things. It was missing its one-touch sweep, so that’s been ordered. I might try my hand at making the wooden handles with some walnut or cherry I have around. Right now I’m just giving it a good cleaning, and once the sweeps arrive and are installed, I can do the rest while it’s in use (I have a plastic handle I can use temporarily for the lid, scavenged from a rusted-out chimney starter).

What I’m hoping to find here is if someone has a surplus black metal strap handle to replace the one that has been broken off. I was going to weld it back, but it’s been explained to me that it would be eater and sturdier to bolt it in place with stainless fasteners, so I’ll do that. I have the offer of a red one, and I’ll take that if a black one doesn’t turn up. It’ll never be a beauty queen, so a little red showing won’t be too much of an issue. But if anyone has a black handle they could part with, I’d love to know.

Thanks!
