Is the term "ABT" gospel, or can I "modify" it?

Not being very familiar with the origin of ABTs, but having made and enjoyed them on several occasions, I think they are "misnamed". I have made them according to recipes on this site and I think they would be more appropriately named "APTs" - Atomic Pig Turds - considering the pulled pork inside (or sausage, or no meat at all) and the bacon wrapping on the outside. Where did the "buffalo" moniker come from? I will continue to refer to them as ABTs until such time that the consensus is that it's OK to rename them.

Am I the only person to wonder about this? Does someone know the history of these delicious little treats and is willing to shed some light on the subject? I would love to know their background... where they originated, who thought them up, why "buffalo" was involved, etc. THIS inquiring mind wants to know! Now that I am working again, the Webers are going to get some serious workouts!

I got no problem with the name.

besides I usually fill them with crumbled blue cheese so it fits the region.

My wife despises the name so we just call them poppers.
