Immune To Cold Weather

Early this year I slipped and fell (due to ice) on my front porch which caused me to sustain a concusion.
Afterwards I am no longer effected by cold weather, I don't shiver or have goose bumps when outside in sub zero weather in a short sleeve shirt. My fingers do start to go numb after about 5 minutes in sub zero weather, verified by shoveling snow in a short sleeve shirt without gloves.

I was checked out by my Dr (MRI of my head came out clean) and I mentioned that I am no longer affected by cold weather, which he responded to dress appropriately.

Anyone else experinence the same?

Umm...... wow. That's sorta terrifying, Ray. I've never had a concussion (knocks wood,) I'm not sure what I'd do in your circumstances, except for the obvious, dress warmly.

Gotta ask, do you feel heat?

I was wondering the same, I was in Houston in Feburary for work but it snowed 3" so I haven't experienced hot weather yet. I also "react" to touching a hot pan that was on the stove.

I do "feel" the cold weather as I can tell by breathing in the cold air and my arms/hands feel like they have been in a freezer but my brain does not react by trying to warm my body up by shivering.

Good advice from the Dr. Even though you can't feel the cold, it will still have the same affect on you. Be careful!

I have no plans on doing a Polar Plunge anytime soon.🐻‍❄️

Shoveling the snow in a short sleeve shirt/no gloves in sub zero weather was a test to determine how my brain would react to freezing weather conditions. Knowing that my brain can detect the symptoms of extreem cold (numbness of my fingers) but can't warm up my body is valueable information that I need to take into account when subject to cold conditions to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.

Several years ago a friend of mine got into a bar fight and had a beer bottle smashed on his head.
He lost his sense of taste and smell.

His doctors couldn’t fix it after trying for nearly a year.
He ended up seeing an Asian medical practitioner (a witch doctor maybe ?) in SF’s Chinatown.
He was given micro doses of some of hallucinogenic items for about 6 months and acupuncture.
He claims that the treatment healed it for the most part, but I am a bit skeptical about that.

About the cold weather,
Being out in the cold is something I do often because I like the colder weather and it gets cold where I’m at.
If I am doing something physical like stacking firewood low 50’s is teeshirt weather.

I don’t really believe that cold weather makes you sick.
I think virus or some kinda bug makes you sick.
Cold weather will make you hypothermic though.

When your body drops its temperature a few degrees from the standard 98 degrees due to scuba diving, a work situation or what ever you become hypothermic and one of the first signs is being tired and that is because your body is working on regenerating heat.

My family spent 2 weeks submerged in 85 degree water on a scuba vacation in the Bahamas
After a week we were falling asleep right after dinner.
When I told my instructor back home he told me 85 degrees is a lot colder than 98 degrees and that we got a hypothermic hit.

Well, I'm here to tell ya, IDK about the possible hallucinogenic stuff your friend may or may not have taken but I can tell ya, acupuncture really does work.
Many (like 52 now) years ago I was in a bad car wreck in my 69 Impala Coupe. Guy hit me with a 68 Ford Galaxy doing about 40 from behind. Driver seat was bent backward, I ended up in the back seat of my car.
Thought I was fine but now well over 50 years later I am still struggling with the damage in my neck. My chiropractor recommended I give the "needles" a go. Being the skeptic I am, I recalled my buddy (who's an even bigger skeptic) telling me he had it done. So I asked him. He told me worked well for him.
So I gave it a whirl. All I can say is "I'm sold"! First treatment and I had already gotten quite a lot more movement of my head side to side. And believe me, when I would come to an intersection it was PAINFUL for me to look side to side especially quickly as you sometimes have to do.
Not saying I'm pain free now but, I can look all 4 directions much more easily and effectively.
I also have had to deal with what I guess is called "trigger finger". Sometimes when working my thumb(s) would "pull into" my palms so badly you could not even pry them out. I will say this was the only "discomfort" I felt from the puncture treatment. She had to put them in my hands and she told me wherever there is nerve inflammation sometimes it will hurt on insertion and or the needles will literally "jump out". Yes experienced both sensations. But I will also say...................the cramps are nearly gone.
Like the Monkees..................I'm a believer!

I am not advocating any kind of drug.
If he just said acupuncture I wouldn’t have been so skeptical.
Lots of people have benefited from acupuncture.
LSD not so much.
I may have poked fun that the medical practitioner but sorry not sorry 🫣.
