A few questions for the group.
First one of the pics.

I think I can scale dimensions from the pic given we know the kettle is 22"
A few things I see but would like your opinion on.
The cutouts on the bottom are obviously for fresh air intake.
We know it was designed around 1966 so it should have the three wheel daisy vents. The hatch door on the side was to adjust the vents and maybe be left open for more ventilation. It looks like there is another on the left side so there should be three.
How they dealt with the ash is a puzzle . They had the saucer back then so I doubt it could fit thru the hatch.
Looks to me like the kettle is supported on tabs so maybe they lifted the whole thing out to dispose of the ashes.
The handle I'm thinking on using black iron or galvanized pipe ( painted black ) with elbows and caps on the end.
The SS banding I can get and the clamps.
Gonna use either red or white cedar.
Any thoughts are welcome.
 
Check this out on the Weber Kettle Club site. This was a restoration of one that was found. You might be able to contact him to see about dimensions and other questions you have. It turned out really nice and is a unique idea for a grill.

 
I don't know why you aren't seeing any photos. The opening page has several and then if you read down through the postings there are more. At the very end there are photos of the finished project.
