Since finding my Redhead i am amazed on how easy it is to cook on, mind you burgers and some reverse seared pork chops is all i've done so far, but turned out great.

My first grill was a Master grill from lowes, that you could raise and lower the charcoal pan, what a pain to figure out, plus it leaked air badly!

Now i want another grill may get a blue one from lowes (special order)

I really like my weber performer but I am still trying to learn I have been grilling on the gasser weber for years and now having to learn charcoal it is tuff but I eat all my mistakes.

Since I already have several "traditional" legged redheads, I would go Performer if I get a blue kettle someday. (hopfully sooner than later). I dont give a hoot in Satins living room what ppl say, charcoal trumps gas on flavor and cookability any day of the year. Chimney for a classic kettle (or gas assist for a Performer) makes it light quicker. You just cant go wrong with charcoal. That's all there is to it!

Webers remain the gold standard for steel charcoal grills. You pay a little more up front, but on the back end you get 10x your money's worth in return.

Or in the case of MOST of us on TVWBB, we wait patiently for used deals on CraigsList, and pay about the same, or in some cases MUCH less, than people pay for new cheaper quality grills (Kingsford, Masterbuilt, etc., etc.) from the big box stores.

My problem is I got so many different cooking options I often spend more time figuring out what to cook on than the actual cook itself!

Kevin, I "cooked" on gas for 10 years and switched three years ago. Haven't looked back since. Stick with it and it gets better everytime.

I did two cooks on the Performer this week chicken & a pork butt, Chicken I pulled to soon, not cooked perfect at the leg joints, althought the temp was correct, the butt came out great @ 190 internal temp. Next time I may try to tent it @ about 165 or so to make the skin even more moist. Practice is making it easier.
