If you cook a butt and they say it takes around 1.5 to 2 hours per pound what happends when you cook say 20 Lb's is it going to take 30 to 40 hours ???

You probably won't find a butt larger than 10 lbs.-- most average in the 7-8 pound range. The hours-per-pound estimate applies to the individual piece of meat, rather than the entire quantity of meat being cooked.

If you cooking several butts, and need to estimate your time to finish, take the largest one, multiply its weight by two (2hrs/lb), and add a "little bit". For 2 butts, that might be 1/2 hour, for 4, maybe 2 hours or more. Conditions will make a difference. The beauty, however is the hold time you have with the butts when finished cooking - at least 5 hours if wrapped in HD foil and placed in an empty cooler with towels.
