Idea for DIY Table for Weber Kettle Grill

I have a 22.5" Weber Original Kettle grill that I absolutely love, but lately I've been finding that I wish I had a side table or something with it, more like the performer series. The grill is only about 4 years old and still looks new on the outside (except for the missing rubber booty on the non-wheeled foot) so I can't justify buying a Performer or Summit series. I have no problems building a sturdy wooden cart, and I'm sure I can come up with some dimensions that would fit a readily-available cover, but I'm not sure how to fasten the grill to the cart. Obviously, I'd need some kind of buffer between the wood and the grill base, but can anyone offer any ideas of suggestions that you've used or done in the past? I do not own a welder and I don't know how to weld, but I have friends that would be willing to help me out if it is just a simple weld or two...

Thanks!

Lots of ideas out there, I had to upgrade the table on my old one touch premium (pre performer) due to a couple of disasters. Both were minor but, required some attention.
Look at my signature photo if you want to see the way I did the project. The best thing I upgraded was the height through bigger wheels(free) and a couple pieces of pipe. I need to support the cantelievered end which sports the 18 1/2 but, I think I have dialed in my idea on that. I almost made it longer but, it is huge now! Glad I reigned in when I did.
I sent some pictures to Rusty Breaux but, I'm not photobucket savvy so, I can't post them here.
Take your time and do it the way that will suit your work habits.
Getting ready to cold smoke some hard boiled eggs tomorrow!

Very nice! I too am rethinking what I want to do. Those are very nice and much less costly than an elaborate table. I would like to have some storage for charcoal, wood chunks, and equipment also. I like what you have done!
