I just spotted an ALIEN!

As I was in the process of setting up my 22.5" WSM for my overnight pork butt smoke, thank goodness I had my camera handy as I think I spotted an ALIEN trying to hide behind a bag of Rancher charcoal!

It was only there for a couple seconds but I managed to snap a couple more pics before it disappeared!

Ok, so it might not have been an ALIEN but I wanted to take a picture of the 1880 WSM next to big Mama to show the size difference.

Everyone have a GREAT weekend!!!

Lawrence,

Wish you were closer (I'm on the East coast). I'd sell you the one I just got for what I paid for it, maybe less. It's waaaay overkill for anything I'll ever use it for. I really was just intrigued by all the hype I've heard and wanted one myself "just for the heck of it".

Hold out for a bargain on the 22.5 because they do show up on CL. More often in your neck of the woods than mine for sure.

That's generous of you, W! Believe me, I watch CL and they don't pop up too often. I'm sure you won't have trouble getting rid of it or trading for something that fits your needs better. Cheers!

Hey, Shaun. Take a number and get in line! haha, I've had a number of people email me out of the blue in the past year for it.

Yea, no kidding. I have no sympathy for the guys that want the 22.5 WSM. It's a LOT easier issue to resolve than those of us who want an 1880.

Thanks for the pics. I'd sure like to run across one of those little guys for camping trips.

I just sold my 22 and I am glad I did. They gobble up fuel like nothing you have ever seen. I'm new to WSM, wanted an 18.5 but stumbled across an incredible deal on the 22.5 so I bought it. While I had it and after using a full bag of briquettes (16 lbs) for a picnic shoulder I came across another deal on an 18.5, bought it too. Thought I would compare them for what I need and fuel consumption. There is no comparison in my mind. Now having said that I was using the water pan and some may not do that. A three gallon water pan takes a lot of energy iven with hot water to start.

I would strongly urge anyone buying a 22 to get the nomex gasket kit and consider a smaller charcoal ring. Based on my own experience I would have two 18.5's rather than a 22.
Just my opinion.

Just wondering what years the 1880 was available? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I believe 1981, '82 and '83 was all. Check out the Weber Bullet History.

Checked it out. I've posted an ad up here to see if anyof these made it to Ontario, never know!
Thanks

This is basically my story exactly. I stumbled across a CL deal for the 22.5" for my first WSM so I figured what the heck. It really is a fuel hog, and eventually I just thought it was silly to use all that fuel for one 4lb pork butt, or one rack of ribs. I don't have a ton of money to blow on expensive cuts of meat, let alone tons of charcoal. I traded the 22.5 for the 18.5 + some cash and couldn't be happier! Fits my use of it much better than the 22.5. Yesterday I got a solid 10 hours out of just one chimney (6lbs) of KBB. That's much more up my alley.

OP, that 1880 is rad looking! Would love to stumble upon one of those.

Do you use your, Todd? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yes, I have used it in the short time I've owned it although I use the large WSM for pork butts etc. Here is are some ribs, chicken and potatoes I made on the 1880 recently.

Really nice! I would love to get my hands on one of those. The only thing standing between that unit and me is an overpriced Cl add and a plaine ticket.
