This requires Sober Adult Operation Only.....well...it should...but that doesnt always happen. Was out at nascar and needed to start the charcoal.....so out comes Master Blaster

In about a minute or so the coals were started nicely and ready to cook in about 7 minutes.

Also had the WSM along and smoked ribs and brisket and then used the base loaded with charcoal for a fire pit. . it was raining and cold in texas. . . .

Cheers

good thing it only took a minute, another 30 seconds and you would have burned through your puny grill

I take it that's a weed burner. It seems to be a popular way to light coals. I use a bayou classic burner that works pretty good, but I've been considering the weed burner too.

hey j, ya that puny little grill is just a disposalble item for nascar grilling...i have a webber genesis gasser and a WSM for home...LOL

Weed burner is serious flames for sure....bayou classic burner i don't know of....but if it works then hey.......it works.....like your posts!!!!

Cheers

Niiiiice! You almost burnt the handles off! I need one of those. Another thought on the "Puny Grill", why can't Weber come up with a tilt up lid design like that?

Is that you? Because the expression on your face makes the whole picture. Seriously, like that's the type of picture that makes it's way around the internet with a title like "Redneck cigarette lighter" or something like that.

Classic!

Doesn't the new Platinum have a tilt lid design?

We've got some of those "Aussie" grills around that have been cooking for more than a decade, but they just don't cook like a Weber kettle!

Justin, yes that is me....in full redneck mode...and you just can't help grinnin like a fool with a flame like that....heck i woke up the guy in the next trailer when i started my wsm up the next morning for the brisket and ribs. Talk about FLAME ON!!

Pat - Agree, nothing cooks like the webber kettle...i have worn one of those out with all the cooks i used to do on it...somehow lost it in the divorce, then got the gasser.

Steve - I've seen the liquid oxygen method, but really, isn't the weed burner overkill enough?

Those aussie's are not bad grills for the money you pay. I started off on an aussie and it lasted me 6 years before I set it out on the curb. For $20, that isn't bad at all and I was able to control temps for everything from burgers and dogs to ribs and chicken. They are great for tailgating as it offers plenty of room and you don't care if somebody steals it from you when it is in the back of your truck.

I have used a weed burner a couple of times, but it's really too loud (and not very safe). I'm looking for a torch that's powerful enough to speed things up, but that wont scare the neighbors.

I've been using a chimney starter with a blow torch. Works pretty good and I,m usually ready to start the wsm in 10-15 minutes. I like the weed burner!

Thermite, anyone ??

Maybe not for starting, but it sure would put a SEAR on a steak in about 5 seconds!

(Oops, sorry - that's my inner pyro-geek talkin')
