How to crisp up bacon weave

To those who do the fatties, or anything else you might put a bacon weave on, how do you get the bacon to crisp up?

I covered a meatloaf a couple times with a bacon weave, but the bacon didn't crisp up at all. Could it be the temps? I was about 250 degrees the whole time. Or should I be using thin bacon? I was using thick sliced bacon. Should I give the bacon a head start and fry it up half way?

I'm smoking some meatloaf and baby backs tomorrow, any helpful hints would be appreciated!!

You need high heat at the end to crisp up the bacon. Chicken also needs high heat at the end to crisp up the skin.

I usually precook it enough to where its slightly cooked but not crisp at all. I then wrap it around the fatty and it will crisp up just about when the fatty is done. I've done this several times and it's work really well each time.....except the time I precooked over direct heat on the gas grill:( Dumb mistake on my part:o

Simmer the bacon a few minutes in water. It will cut the cooking time and make it crisp sooner.
