My cousin is buying me one of those cryovac 2 packs of pork shoulders from restaurant depot, and i only plan on using 1 this weekend. My sister said I could use her deep freezer for the 2nd unused shoulder, so how long will it keep before freezer burn or something else gets to it? Also, what is the proper way to store a piece of meat in the freezer?

Were you able to vacuum repack, quite a while. I've found things that have hung out for a year until being rediscovered in the chest freezer and they were fine. Of course the fact it was a regular freezer and not a "frost free" that cycles the temp helps a lot along with being vac-packed.
Tightly wrapped in plastic and a couple layers of foil: a few months. Personally, cook both and freeze the leftover in freezer zip-lock bags getting as much air out as possible.

Foodsaver is the way to go......it will double or triple the time you're able to store the pork.

I would second Marc's suggestion......cook em' both and vacuum pack the leftovers if possible!

Add my vote to smoke both and freeze what you cannot eat right away.

Once it's smoked you can also share some with your sister and cousin and anyone else for whom you want to do something nice. Share the love!
