I got an old weber with the thumbscrews and the tubes on the bottom of the kettle that hold the legs on are rusty and coming loose. The spot welds have weakened. Some are separated and some are attached but it is shaky. How do you fix this problem. Do you drill through the little tabs and put a stainless nut and bolt? Do you you use JB weld or something like that? I know JB weld can handle the heat. I have no way to re-weld it as it's rusty. Anyone have any advice, I'm sure other people have had this problem. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

Welcome Brian, I would do like you said and drill a small hole through the tabs and screw in a sheetmetal screw. JB weld will break eventually. Please post a picture of what you have. I would like to see it. Smoke on!

Thank you for the welcome, I have been on this site for about a week and a half, and I have already picked up a 26.75 and a 22.5 red head. I would post pictures now but it's dark outside and I am not even sure how to post pics. I'll figure it out and get them going.

Thanks again,
Brian
