Hot Dog Chili

Hey Guys,

I did this same post in recipes but wanted to double post here in case anyone missed it in recipes. Sorry about that, but desperate for a good recipe.

+++

I am doing Chicago Dogs for our Halloween Party and will also have Slaw Dogs and New York Dogs as well as Chili Dogs.

I need a good recipe for hot dog chili. Any help? I am looking for something beefy, not creamy, and pretty robust but not too spicy. Almost like a ground beef taco filling you see in the cheaper fast food places (but better) and not like the canned Castleberry's.

Any help?

Thanks in advance,

JKC

This is good and you can adjust the heat levels to your liking...

Ingredients

o 1 lb ground beef
o 1/3 cup onions, chopped
o 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
o 1/2 teaspoon paprika
o 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
o 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
o 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
o 1/2 teaspoon cumin
o 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
o 1 teaspoon salt
o 1 teaspoon dried basil
o 2 teaspoons chili powder
o 1 cup onions, chopped
o 7 3/8 ounces Hormel chili without beans ( lunchbox size)
o 1 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
o 1 cup water

Directions

1. Brown hamburg and 1/3 cup onion.
2. Drain.
3. Combine hamburg onion mix and remaining ingredients.
4. Simmer 2 hours.

Wow. Thanks. The consistency is (I think) what I am looking for... Very fine ground beef chunks. Which of these have you tried and which is has the darkest, beefiest flavor?

Thanks

JKC

I make the Original Greek Sauce and add Franks hot sauce until I get the heat level I want. I go right by the recipe otherwise. I buy the 2 oz. Portion cups at Sams Club and fill those with the chilli sauce and put them in a larger tupperware container and freeze it. Then when I want just a couple dogs I pull it out and microwave a small container, its just right for two dogs. I've made the varsity one and it tasted like manwich. I didn't like the one with mustard either.
