Hood hook fell off

A few weeks back, the wife tried to help me with the grill. The handle was quite hot, so she dropped the lid as she was setting it on the side of the grill. The hook fell off. I now have to set the cover on the ground when I want to remove it. Is there an easy way to fix this? It is a 2002 Silver 22 1/2 kettle.

Ho wold is the grill? If it is within 10 years old call Weber customer service and tell them the hook fell off, I wouldn't necessarily tell them all that stuff about your wife, I would keep it simple and tell them the hook fell off. If not maybe just a nut and bolt.

It was bought in March or 2002. Right at 10 years old. It is registered with Weber too, so I can't exactly say it is younger. I thought about trying JB Weld, but didn't know if it would hold the weight through repeated usage. I was trying to avoid the ugliness of a nut and bolt.

Just another example of why I don't let my gal out on the patio!! Just kiddin ladies...just kiddin....
I like the JB Weld idea if Weber won't send ya another lid.......

I'll second the Slide-Aside, have mine since 06 and love it. If you do get the hook attached back on, try hooking it on the handle instead of the side of the bowl, ( easier IMO). Until then you could try this.
