Honda mower, buying a used one

So I buy and sell grills often. Very comfortable with what to look for and prices I'm willing to pay.

Mowers on the other hand, I don't know as much. Right now I've got an older Honda mower. I've had to replace the carb on it about a year ago, then the pull cord. Now the self propel feels like it's about to go. I'd rather clean it up and get $100 or whatever I can for it now while it's still running fine. And but a newer one to replace it.

Does the mower I linked at the beginning of the post seem like a good deal? Nothing but pictures to go off, but it looks pretty new.

I asked the guy why he was selling and he said
"It's my neighbors, he got it from his brother in law and already has one."

Based off the pictures, does it seem like a good deal?
I plan on starting it up when I get there, checking the air filter, testing self propel, and looking under the deck area and also the blades. Anything else I should look at?

Honda mowers command a high price. A lot has to do with the name and the cachet. But they're overall good machines. I actually have a similar one that has a carbon fiber deck and a tiny little hydrostatic transmission. I do like it. A look at the blades will tell the story. Person says barely used. Look at the blades if they're worn down and beat up, the person is lying. I believe this unit has the 2 blade cutting system. It's really cool. Chops stuff up into literally powder. Anyway if it's as unused as the person says $200 is not a bad deal

Thanks Larry. I was all set to buy that mower this morning. Set up a time and everything last night with the seller.
I noticed about 8am the seller marked the item as sold, figured I was the buyer...messaged him to tell him I was on the way, and he replied that he already sold the mower to someone else. Ugh, so annoying.

I ended up buying a similar mower from an elderly gentleman for $250. Not as good of a deal, but I could tell this one wasn't used and abused by looking at it. appears to be this one selling for $399 at Home Depot.

The bag that came with it was unused, nice looking mower. Started right up too. Guy said it had less than 12 hours on it...not sure how he could keep track of that.

I really like the twin blade cutting system. It chops stuff up to literally "powder". I mulch leaves with it in the fall. That is most of the use mine sees LOL otherwise I use my Honda HST4514 lawn tractor. Then come winter out comes my Honda snow blower. Seen with my grandson on it there. 20181123_133542.jpg

Riding mowers are nice! The grassy parts of my yard aren’t big enough to warrant a rider. Lower part of back yard is natural pine straw and whatever else grows back there. Confession: I’ve never seen a snow blower in person, only movies!

I listed my old honda for sale this morning and sold it in a couple hours for $180... so upgraded my mower for $70. 😎
