Oops the one I linked is actually not the right part, because it is the bigger display. I think you've got the right one there. I don't know the difference between FSTN and STN in practical application either. I'm a programmer and don't have any experience discerning one versus the other.

Found this display on Digi-key. Would it work? I realize that since the connector is on top that I would have to use a cable but not really a big deal to me.

That one may work but it's pretty expensive. This one works fine in a case that Matt made for me and like the one you mentioned, you will need a cable. I have modified floppy or IDE cables and they work great, just use 90 degree header pins on the HM board instead of straight ones. Or you can always solder them, it's only 12 wires iirc.
