Hinged lid

the weber rancher and i believe one other model has a hinged lid. might be able to just buy that piece and modify it a bit to fit the one you have.

i would take a look in person at the rancher or some such before buying parts.

The Ranch Kettle does not have a "hinged lid," nor does any other Weber kettle.

The Ranch Kettle uses a "Tuck Away Lid Holder" (or side lid holder visible here, just like on the Performer, the MasterTouch, and the One Touch Platinum--except way bigger on the RK

. It consists of a surrounding metal ring, with two plastic rollers, and a bottom strap attached low on the kettle. The lid rests in this cradle.

One option for kettles is the Weber Slide-Aside, but I don't know how that would work for WSMs.

But, since you have some extra grills, just use one of them to hold the lid of the one you are working on at the moment!

If you look at these pics.... Besides a great lookin meal there is a grill with a hinged lid.
If you can get an ID on the make, you might be able to order that part.

Looks like maybe he used a Weber handle (like the bolt on handle from the Ranch Kettle - Part #83778 - Handle Steel Ranch Lid) as the pivot base? J?

Anyone seen or made a mod to hinge the lid on a kettle grill or smoker? I'm interested in doing this. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Weber makes the Slide-A-Side that works great. I have one on my 22.5" OTG.
