Hi guys

Just got myself a 57cm WSM on the weekend and put a smoke on for the first time.

Looking forward to sharing tips with you all.

Happy Smoking

Hi guys

Thanks for the welcome! So far on the weekend I failed at a boston butt but managed to do 2 racks of ribs which turned out pretty good for a first smoking attempt.

Gary - Quite like Leeds myself, lived here about 18 months now am from Hertfordshire originally just north of London :o)

Matt I'm certain we can fix the Boston Butt problem. Why don't you consider posting something under Barbeque and we can give you our collective opinion.;)

Purchased the big WSM. Will be able to feed 1/2 the county with that thing. Welcome to TVWB! Great place to learn.

Matt, I posted the same in Mike's welcome thread:

Welcome. I was lucky enough to be part of a Rotary exchange group that visited Yorkshire in 1999. We were there for a month and visited Manchester, Bradford, Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Pickering and North York Moors National Park, Filey, Whitby, Halifax, and even Leeds, among other places. I also got to take a swing over to the Lake District to climb Harrison Stickle one day.

We saw some beautiful country, met a lot of friendly people, and developed a taste for Black Sheep Ale. In the pre-9/11 days, we hauled some back in luggage after a trip to London. One day Black Sheep popped up in stores here, and now I keep it on hand all the time.

I met more vegetarians in one month over there than in my whole life in Louisiana. Meat was certainly served, but I never had any smoked meat (other than kippers for breakfast).

I'd be interested to hear about the popularity of BBQ in the UK and what cuts of meat are the favorites.
