My name is Alan, aka nolaman in another forum. I transplanted here from New Orleans,(hometown) via Smithfield Va. and Dallas Ga.This is the first time posting here. I have done a bit grilling, and smoking in the past on a char-griller 50/50 with pretty good results. Well some five yrs. ago I lost my job do to cut backs which In turn caused me to lose my home. Finally I snagged a job at a small mfg. company in the north Ga. mountains. Well after the second big move, (another story in itself) I was forced to get rid of the char-griller. I have to admit after adding a side fire box,it was as big and as heavy as a locomotive. So I gave it to a co-worker.I picked up a display Jumbo Joe at the end of the season at wallyworld for less than 30 bucks. I've done a few small butts, and a deboned/stuffed chicken using the fuse method.I must say I'm impressed with this little kettle. I also rescued a 22.5 OTS from the back of co-workers truck that was destined to the scrap yard. I managed to salvage only the body, lid, and the legs.Converting to a OTG. Work in progress. My latest and greatest find was in February. Again at wallyworld sitting in the middle of the entrance aisle there it was the woman of my dreams,a 2014 18.5 WSM. There was a flip card price stand in front of it which read $70 ! I couldn't believe my eyes! I picked up the smoker and price sign carried them to the garden center. I asked the cashier if this was the price? She scanned the little bar code it came up as a 14.5 marked down for clearance. I almost tore my pocket getting my wallet out so fast! I am now addicted to Webers! I came across this website while searching for parts for my OTG. There is a wealth of information on this forum which comes from years of experience, and a lot of good people eager to share their information with you. Thank you in advance members.
