Hello from Western Kansas

Hey Patrick! Great to have you here. I've been running the 22 WSM for several years.... you'll find lots of good advice here on the forum. Lots of info here to help flatten the learning curve and reduce frustration. Here's a link for with advice on how to light up your bullet. https://www.virtualweberbullet.com/firing-up-weber-bullet-1/

It's been my experience that building the fire correctly is the most important part of temperature control. Lighting off too much charcoal to begin with makes it hard to get the temperature down. Lighting off too little charcoal and you'll have a hard time getting to the target temp. I also try to compensate a bit for the weather - light more coals when it's cold and/or windy, light fewer if it's hot out.

Welcome I just got the same one a few weeks ago. I was planning on flipping but after 1 use (a corned beef) I think it may be a keeper. My next cook is I think a Turkey on the kettle rotisserie, as I am not sure what the WSM would ad, as my research says you have to cook at 350 - 375. but after that definitely another smoked something on the WSM

Welcome aboard Patrick!
I've passed through your metropolis a few times on my way to visit son in CO.
Highway 40 is more pleasant to drive than I-70.

Welcome Patrick! Glad to see another Kansan join the forum. I am in the Kansas City metropolitan area in Olathe. This is a great place to learn and share information about all things related to grilling and smoking meats. Enjoy!
