Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I just purchased a new S-435 to upgrade my mother's old 2006 or so Stainless Weber Genesis grill which I am snagging to replace my old 99 or so 2 burner Weber Spirit and 2001 Weber Genesis Silver B 8128.

Originally I discovered this forum while looking into what it would cost to restore my Genesis Silver B which has sat neglected for years so it looks like I will be scrapping the Spirit and 8128 instead.

Her Genesis needs some work though due to bad starter, uneven heat, etc so it looks like that might be my next project.

Welcome Bob. You found the right place.

Please post pics of the grills you plan to restore. It helps us help you.

Cheers

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the cookbox has a slight bow. It happens. as long as the grates are staying in place it should be OK.

The rust on the bottom inside looks like it needs some work. Overall its a solid gas grill, but you might find restoring the Silver B is a bit less work.

here is a thread you might be intersted in, a 2009 310 that was in pretty rough shape.

Thanks yeah I was worried about that a bit. Worst case I may just use it as a hold over until I stumble across a deal on a new one.

I ended up having the Ace Hardware I bought the S435 from haul away the old Spirit and Genesis Silver B. It looked like more work and parts would be harder to come by. It was in decent shape, but wasn't sure I would have the time for the project.

Surprisingly Ace said they just put them in the back or behind the store until random scrap guys come by. Anyone in Tampa looking for Weber stuff might check the Seffner Ace to see if they have any junkers in the back. The delivery guy said he hauled like 5 Webers this week not including my two.

Welcome from AZ , I had that same grill for about 10 years it was a very good cooker even heat. I also had the bottom pan rust. It unbolts very easy and I sanded it then coated it and the side panels with POR 15 rust treatment . After it dried I spray painted the parts with a matching silver color. No more rust. The guy who bought my house had to have it. Looked almost new after 10 years. Enjoy that grill and your new freinds here.

Welcome Bob! Whatcha going to grill first on that Genesis? Looks like it should
clean up well with a little elbow grease!

Bar Keepers Friend will do wonders to get rid of the exterior grime. I am currently working on your grill’s sister, EP310 and parts for it are really reasonably priced and available at grillparts.com so don’t throw in the towel on this gem.

I am anticipating your project success and updating us with pictures.
