I am a registered nurse and have lived in Michigan for the past 17 years. I work only three days a week and have lots of free time. I enjoy doing home projects and fishing. I grew up in Tennessee and one thing I miss is pulled pork and bbq chicken. No offense but people in Michigan cannot even come close to the way it is supposed to be done. When I would go back to Tennessee to visit the family, I would go to one of the many places and come home with 10lbs of pulled pork and 10 whole chickens. I have been busy for the past several months and have not been able to go home. So I decided to do it myself. When I do something new I like to do my research, and I have been lurking on this website for about 2 months. This is a great site with loads of information. Having owned a Weber charcoal grill for three years, there was no doubt about what kind of smoker I was going to get. As I mentioned, I love doing projects and like they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so Jamie from the modifications board should be really flattered. I stole his idea for a nice looking cabinet for it. I have enclosed a picture and hopefully it shows up. The only thing I did different from his great design, was in the bottom I used cement board and drilled holes in it for air flow and drainage. I still have some things to finish on it before it goes outside and I will upload more photos when done. Thanks for all the great ideas and cannot wait to learn and share more. Terry

Hey, I'm with ya-- haven't found a good BBQ joint in West Michigan yet. And then the reactions I get when people try what I whip up on the WSM-- often times they're stunned one can do it on their own!

holy smokes ! that is beautiful! how does it look with the doors open? anyhow , welcome. look forward to your posts in future. :wsm:

Welcome to the forums Terry! Great lookin' WSM cabinet! I'm with Frank H - how's it look with the doors open?!?

Sorry it took so long to respond I had to finish it. I have used it twice and it works great. Any questions email back and I will try to answer.

wow, super sweet set up. I plan to do an enclosure for my wsm when it gets here, but wow. that looks professional to me.

Thanks just a weekend hack with some knowledge. I got the plans (just pics) off the modification page under (I THINK) wind screens

I've checked out the plans, but am not sure my skills will be up to par. however, I will make a thread w/a play by play when I do build my enclosure

It did take some time. There were only pics and no measurements. It was frustrating, but worth it in the end

I believe you. When my bullet gets here, i'm gonna be trying/looking for a full enclosure that will keep out rain and keep in heat. no snow where I am. currently thinking of an oversized "outhouse" style shed w/reflective insulation on the inside.
