Hello from Northern NJ

Hi Everyone, my name is Brian & I'm glad to have finally joined up. Been a lurker for a bit after purchasing my 18.5 WSM 3 weeks ago. So far I've done the Beer Can Chicken Recipe using a local NJ IPA and did a Cherry Wood Smoked Turkey Breast last weekend. The Chicken was simply one of the best Chickens I've ever done. I'd probably change it up a bit on the Turkey but still tasted pretty good. Plan is to do some Baby Back Ribs this weekend as the weather in NJ is supposed to be superb on Sunday!

Prior to the WSM I used the 22.5 Weber Kettle :blackkettle: (still have it & use it!) which produced a lot of great meats when set up as a smoker. That being said so glad I made the decision (i.e...My wife gave me permission) to purchase the WSM. It can really hold a temp and I don't have to tend to it as often as I did the Kettle!

Look forward to chatting with everyone!

Glad you are here Brian. Also glad you kept the kettle. They are great for many things. As for "(i.e...My wife gave me permission)", there are many expressions that are used here. Among them are "CEO", "SWMBO" (she who must be obeyed), and others. Once you start doing more of the cooking it could become easier.
Welcome Aboard.

Thanks Bob! I'm glad I kept the kettle as well. Steaks on that one are just amazing.

I love the other terms for wife, particularly the SWMBO! I think the beer can chicken proved to her the WSM was a good decision.
