I joined this forum in late May after I bought a Silver A for $40 from an original owner about a mile from my house. It was in pretty good shape and even came with the plastic binder owners manual and cookbook. I was really surprised how good it looked after I cleaned the black lid and control panel. I was also surprised with how it cooked much better than at any time with my large old three burner stainless steel Costco grill. Soon I started looking for Silver B's and then I started looking for Genesis 1000 deep boxes. It's a long story for only about a month and a half of Weber involvement but here is where I'm at: I own the Silver A (above) which is cleaned up but I would like to do a full restore. I also own a Silver C that a few weeks ago I was thinking of buying for $50 from a young couple but they simple gave it to me for free for fixing the cookbox on their later model Genesis (I posted a lid hinge repair thread a while back). This Silver C needs full restoration. I also own a Silver B that I bought for $35 that I'm in the process of restoring now. In addition, I just finished a Silver B restoration that included sandblasting and a lot of hard work for a gentleman that paid me for the complete parts and labor overhaul. He loved the grill functionally and sentimentally (his wife gave it to him 24 years ago) and thought I was the guy to fix it up. Finally, I used the money I made from his Silver B restoration to take a big plunge and buy a nicely restored Genesis 1000 deep box redhead from Michael Johnston in Hatboro, PA. The redhead is a real beauty.

I want to thank everyone who have helped me along my short journey so far. I'm sorry if I "hijacked" some threads with questions and photos this past month. Everyone has been so generous with help. I look forward to creating some posts soon on the recent completed B. It's been real joy learning about these older gas Webers. They were designed and built in the US with careful thought about function, durability and field maintainability. Looking forward to working more on my Silver A, B and C!

I sometimes go down to Strohsniders to get wood splits for my offset. And sometimes we come down to check on the farmer's market you have down there on Saturday mornings. You also have a tiny little Tacos Don Perez restaurant which makes outstanding birria tacos. I've decided birria tacos are now my new favorite food. :cool:
