Hello everyone -

I am the proud new owner of a shiny (for now) new 22.5" WSM, ordered from Amazon.com. I'm anticipating breaking it in by doing a dry run and a bacon strip smoke sometime this weekend. After that, it's on to the twin-pack of pork butts I picked up at Costco the other day.

I've been reading quite a bit and learning a lot from this board. I enjoy the friendly banter and wealth of information. What a great resource! I hope to become a valued contributor to the board.

This is my very first Weber smoker; however, I'm not new to smoking. I've had a Cookshack Smokette 009 for about five years and have enjoyed it tremendously. My family loves the brisket, pulled pork, turkey and ribs that I've mastered on that cooker. Now I'm looking forward to learning to smoke on a true charcoal / wood smoker!

Welcome from the VA side of the river. :)
No need to 'season' or do a dry run on these smokers. Fire it up and add some meat! And don't forget the camera...

This morning is the inaugural lighting of my new WSM 22.5"! Very excited. We're having somewhat of a cold snap here in MD - it's about 42 here now, with a fair wind and a sunny clear sky. Perfect weather for smoking - AND - for the Marine Corp Marathon in DC tomorrow (I ran that back in 2005). Being somewhat hardheaded, I'm cooking two racks of Costco bacon today as well as prepping the two pork butts for an overnight cook tonight. Now I need to figure out how to start posting pictures on the board... Have a great weekend everyone.
