Hey all, I picked up some chunky Heinz Chili Sauce this week for my pulled beef sandwiches. I enjoyed it today on ciabattas with pulled beef and grilled bell peppers and onions with a stiff grind of mixed pepper.
Something triggered the memory, my Grandfather used to have it in the fridge all the time and put it on bologna sandwiches. It's not as chunky and more dare I say, ketchup-y than I remember, but I like ketchup so that's no big.
For those who haven't tried it it's sort of a cross between picante sauce and ketchup. It's not spicy hot, it has bell peppers (and bell pepper flavor), it's kind of sweet and has more of a sweet pickle spices taste than salsa flavors.
One thing that got me to pick it up and bring it home is to use as an alternative to BBQ sauce (no liquid smoke!).
Do you like it, what do you use it for?
