i currently have a red mastertouch and a green older style platinum with side table. the thing that bugs me is that both height from grate to ground seems to be to low for me. How much higher if any is the performer? thanks

Corey, I have the one touch platinum with the two side tables and it (the grill itself) sits a lot higher than the performer.I have the performer also.If you go to a BBQ store you will be able tell the difference immediately. You live in Michigan also I am not sure how close you are to Bourliers BBQ in Ferndale, but I am sure they would have a demo, if Home Depot or Lowes does not have it

Just in case you're thinking about looking at used performers online - I'm pretty sure the older stainless steel performers are shorter than the current performers being sold.

Yes they are a bit shorter. I actually replaced the 2 wheels and 2 casters on my SS performer with 4 casters from a new Genesis grill. That raised it about 2 inches and I really like it.

Corey.
Have you ever thought of raising your kettles up?
A small ground contact platform made with PT 2x6 would get you @ about standard kitchen counter top hght.
You could finish the top of the deck with large concrete pavers.

Quote from Bill
"I use my 22's almost daily. I'm 6'2" and bending over the grills became a big problem about 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with Degenerative disk desease. There was NO WAY I was giving up my grilling so I got to thinking and put the grills up on cinder blocks and they were perfect.... Was looking for a more permanent solution when I happened to be in Lowes in the shower section. Lowe and behold there was the answer!

I bought two shower curtain rods that are the same diameter and thickness as the original legs... I measured the legs and added 8" to match the cinder blocks.

I flattened the ends where the wheels go,drilled a hole for the rod but didn't take into account that by lengthing the legs they were spread out farther!...lol... Wanted to support it better so back to Lowes for one more rod, two wooden dowls and four lag screws to hold the wheels on.....

All in all I've got maybe $20 tied up in the legs mods and no more back problems while grilling."
