Handles on WSM Mid Section

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a pair of handles for the one touch gold and using them on the mid section of the WSM 22".

I'm a little cautious about putting a link to another site here, but I found a place that sells parts for Weber products and I can get the handles for $6.35.

Has anyone used the kettle handles on a WSM?

Thanks,

Eric

are you talking about the plastic portion of the grill handles?
if so, HD, Lowes and Ace Hardware sells those.

Someone has a thread about making the brackets out of 3/8th inch wide aluminum stock that is available at Lowes.

If you can find a Weber Customer Service Rep that is having a good day, you can get a pair of Ranch Kettle handles directly from Weber. Most of the CSRs are not very nice, though.

Alan,

Do a search in this modifications section and you will find the part# for the ranch hanldes, which make it easier to get them from Weber CS.

Also, there are many different posts on here about adding different types of handles, from garage door to custom made from aluminum stock.

As Jim mentions, you can get the plastic part only for cheap at many places.

No, No, I got my Ranch handles already through Weber Cust. Service. I sweet talked one of the reps into selling me a pair because I am disabled. I told her that I would have trouble removing the center section without them, and she agreed to ship me a pair.

I am disabled, I had to have 3 titanium pins installed in my right hip in April, and I can barely walk, and only stand for short periods of time.

The handles do make a significant difference in removing the center section.

Eric.
$6.35 for just the handle itself is not that bad of a price, and it's not that far off from what Ace or others have sold them for (last time I checked).
Now if you can get the handle and the bracket and the hardware for that price, than post that link cause I'm sure some will be interested.
I believe the ranch package runs about $13.00 apiece from Weber.
And to answer your question, yes, quite a few of us use the kettle handles on our WSM's..

Take a look at the IKEA Handle mods I added to the center of my 22" WSM in this section.

I considered adding Weber handles, but the cover would be a PITA with them. I may however add Weber handles to the firebowl of the 22"-
I had been using a Cajun Bandit conversion and the bowl had 2 handles and it made dumping ash at comps a breeze. My bullets are set up for comps and drilling holes in them to make them more user friendly only make sense.

About 1/2 way down the page.

Let me know if you think they'll work!

Thanks,

Yea it'll work but that's just the plastic part as mentioned up-thread. It's listed as Ref.10 but the schematic has it as a 9 with just the handle and screw. With shipping that's $14.29, and you could get it for half that at most stores listed up-thread.
